For Ukrainian students, Grades 9–11
Practice English. Make Friends. Connect Across Cultures.
Ukrainian Learning Exchange connects Ukrainian students in Grades 9–11 with American high school volunteers for free online English practice, tutoring, and cultural exchange.
Student-led • Free to participate • Online via Zoom
English is easier when you actually use it.
Many students study English for years at school, but rarely get to speak it naturally with someone their own age.
Ukrainian Learning Exchange changes that. We pair Ukrainian high school students with American student volunteers for relaxed, regular conversations on Zoom. It isn't a class. It's two students talking, learning, and getting to know each other.
How it works
Four simple steps from sign-up to your first conversation.
What you can do during sessions
Every pair decides together what to focus on.
Sessions adapt to each student's goals. One week might be an essay, the next a conversation about music or college plans.
For American high school volunteers
Use your time to make a real difference.
Program format
Simple, consistent, and built around the same partner each week.
Students are typically matched with the same tutor so they can build confidence and develop a stronger connection over time.
More than English practice
The best conversations aren't about grammar. Participants learn about each other's everyday lives: schools, interests, traditions, and the way they see the world.
Ukrainian students get a real window into American student life. American volunteers see Ukraine through the eyes of someone their own age.
